Welcome to the first post of the summer.  I'm sorry about the lack of "timely" updates, but that probably just says something about the attitude I have towards Xanga.  Heck, I'm feeling the impulse to stop typing right now.  But there's a few things I want to say, so I'm gonna proceed as best as I can.  Anyways, I'm up at Penn State for the summer conducting some environmental economics research.  Right now I'm doing a project on Israel's energy economy, which is is kinda interesting.  In my spare time I'm playing frisbee, World of Warcraft, workin out, and catching up on various smaller things I've meant to do.  Like post on my xanga.  I actually should be doing research now, so I might just pop off at any moment.  But anyways, I want to get in at least one rant.  I think I'll address the Eagles first.  More accurately, TO.

Get off it.  Show up to camp.  Play ball.  Keep your mouth shut when in public.  You do these things, Mr. Terrell Owens, and I bet you would get more of that green paper you need to "feed your family".  Yes, I understand your desire for more money.  You had a very strong season, despite the injury.  Yes, your contract is bottom heavy, with most of the money coming in the final of the seven years you signed on for.  And yes, football is a risky sport where you might not reach the end of said contract.  So, I understand your desire for more money.  And feel you deserve it.  But the way you're conducting your demands and going about gathering said money is totally and completely wrong.  You've made a big fiasco out of it, and the Eagles had no choice but to stand strong.  You brought the spotlight onto this situation, making it harder for the organization to act out of character.  Now deal with it.

Next up: Mr. Michael Jackson.  Today he was cleared of all charges.  Congratulations to Mr. Jackson.  I really feel bad for this guy.  It certainly appears as if he has some mental issues, which are resulting in physical ailments.  I realize it sounds wrong, but I'm sort of shocked he hasn't committed suicide.  He's had an unbelievable amount of stress and criticism placed on him.  And it's a damn shame.  This man single handidly changed pop music in the 80's.  The Thriller album is the top of so many categories (hell, it had 7 #1 singles.).  He was huge, and was set to have a huge legacy.  But then it all sort of spiraled out of control.  And now everyone's going to remember him for this crazy child fetish, or supposed fetish, or whatever the hell his fascination with youth (Neverland Ranch?  Neverland?  Peter Pan?) is.  And I think that's a shame.

Lastly, Mr. Mike Tyson.  Retiring.  I could care less; I really don't like boxing.  I just wanted you to commend you for one great contribution to society: Mike Tyson's Punch Out! for the original Nintendo (NES).  That game is amazing, with Little Mack and the ducking and the dodging and the star punch.  Wow.  So much greatness in only 8 bits.

Well, look.  A timely update to my xanga.  This hasn't happened in a very long time.  Anyways, it's Wednesday night...no, wait, it's early Thursday morning.  That means I have my math theory exam tomorrow.  And by tomorrow, I mean Friday, which is still a long ways off.  I did all the homework, which is amazing.  The stuff is still damn confusing, but I feel like I'm getting a better handle on all of it, so we'll see.  I've been focusing so much on that that work in other subjects is mounting, especially meteorology.  Tomorrow's going to be another busy day of classes, studying, tutoring, and practice.  Unfortunately I haven't been able to study much for my econ quiz, but everything takes a back seat to math theory.  Just have to hope it all pays off somehow.

March Madness starts tomorrow.  That's exciting.  I've filled out a few brackets.  St. Patty's day tomorrow, but I can't celebrate.  Math theory.  Damn math theory.  I can't wait to be done with classes on friday.  Then Erin and I are going to the mall and the liquor store.  Then I'm going to the white trash party.  I figure it'd be a good place to hide from the authorities, if they were looking for me.  Not that I've given them any reason to.  I'm also very much looking forward to our tournament this weekend.  Hopefully the conditionning will pay off and I'll be able to make an impact.  Who knows.  I meant to write something meaningful this post, but I sorta lost that motivation.  Mostly because I feel the urge to go look over math theory crap.  again.  ugh.

Man...Xanga sucks.  I keep on wishing I'll come back and it'll be wiped off the face of the Earth.  Especially because I can't find how to change my background or add music now because they changed the programs used for that sorta stuff.  Probably need more people to sign up.  Bah.  No way am I signing up so I can have some souped up online diary.  Are you kidding me?  I don't even know why I still post on this infernal thing.

Aaannnyyywwwayyys, last week was spring break.  In the span of a week I got: got a haircut, went to the dentist.  And that was pretty much it.  Minus an occasional social excursion, I didn't do a damned thing.  And it felt good.  It's better than not doing anything at college because there's always that voice nagging me that I should be doing something.  Ah well.  Busy stuff this week.  Starting off tonight with some math theory and rum, not sure which one I'll have more of.  Math theory exam friday, white trash party friday (don't ask, I'm protecting a friend of mine from drunk guys), frisbee tournament this weekend in hellish weather.  Awesome.  Uh-oh.  Ran out of motivation to type already.  Have a nice night.

EAGLES

Friday, January 21, 2005

Wow.  Has it really been this long since I posted?  It didn't feel like such a long time.  Guess there's a lot that needs to be caught up on in a very short amount of time.  So, here we go, we'll see what I can cover because I lose the motivation to type anymore.  My last post was the week before finals, so it seems only fitting that I try and start around that time.

The last week of class was fine.  Simply put.  Nothing amazing happened, although I did find out that they were dropping some of my lowest math quiz grades.  Definately took some stress off my shoulders there.  Towards the end of the week I began the cram-a-thon that could have been prevented if I actually did some work during the semester.  I had to read a butt load of film study chapters, that was the biggest hurdle.  Luckily, outside of my film study final (on Tuesday), I didn't have to really buckle down on my other finals until the math exam thursday night.  That being said, I aced my comp sci exam (it was open note, so not much of an achievement), got a 99 on my film study final (second time I've gotten the grade I needed when I wrote out a study guide), and got the marks I needed in econ 333 and 490.  Math didn't go as well as I thought.  I thought I would do well.  I took the test and didn't do so well.  But it must've been curved, because when I got my semester grade back, I managed to get what I wanted.  Odd

I got home in time for Hanukkah, and it was marvelous.  I got a Creative Zen Micro, and that's been great around campus, although it's not working in conjunction with my computer.  Grrr.  Anyways, break was relaxing, I did very little.  Saw some movies, saw people, played frisbee on new years day (it was about 60 in philly...awesome).  Before I knew it, it was time to come back to campus.  This semester feels a bit different.  But more on that in a moment.

Classes this semester seem to be very good.  M,W,F I have Math Theory (an American born professor in this course, it's simply amazing), Environmental Economics (very interesting so far, professor seems good and fair.  I'm also being paid for my notes in this course), and Monetary and Fiscal Economics (where we play a stock simulation game all semester and the professor is a riot). Tuesday and Thursday I have fencing (lots of interesting exercises so far) and industrial psych (a bit on the boring side so far, but lots of girls in that class. lol).  And then I have online meteorology.  That should be a test of my work ethic.

Brian's not here this semester, that was the first big difference.  It's just Box, Tad and I now to hang out in the dorms.  Tad's been spending a lot more time in our room this semester.  I turned 21 last weekend, and had a great time my friends on the frisbee squad.  Thanks guys, it was awesome.  Monday I became one of the captains of the B team, so that's something to keep me on my toes this semester.  I went to conidtion with Keith on tuesday, and really beat up my calves.  They're still very tight and sore, although I think my jog yesterday didn't help.

And then there's the Eagles.  This weekend, I hope 4th time's a charm.  I won't say anything more at the moment.  They deserve their own post.  With that, I'm gonna go get some chinese food.
